Scripture: 1 Corinthians 9:7-18
What if I said to you: religion is either everything or it’s nothing. It is either the best thing in the world or the worst thing in the world. The best thing if you believe and the worst if you have no spiritual guide and no acceptance into heaven! What if someone asked you to buy your faith? You give up your faith in God, in Jesus, in the church. Some people would gladly take that deal. True believers would not!!
Paul had something other people did not have, and he was restless to share it with them. He wanted to share the priceless possession of Jesus! He wanted to share the sinless life of Jesus, his compelling teachings, his death on the cross, his resurrection and living power. These events made Paul certain that he knew something about God that others had yet to learn. Why would you not want to share some of the greatest teachings of Jesus?
While He was on earth, Jesus taught the way to be happy, find peace, and return to live with God. His gospel still applies today.
Love God and your neighbor:
When asked which commandment was the most important, Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”(Matthew 22 37-39) When you replace hate with love and anger with kindness, you’ll feel closer to God and notice more peace in your life. Jesus taught the Golden Rule during his Sermon on the Mount: “Do to others what you want them to do to you.” (Matthew 7:12) As you do so, you will strengthen your relationships and have a happier, more peaceful, more satisfying life.
Have faith in Jesus Christ:
In John 3:16, we read, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Having faith in Jesus Christ means believing in Him and His teachings. Having faith in Jesus Christ will bless you in this life and in the life to come.
Communicate sincerely with God:
Jesus taught by example that we should pray to God often. God loves you. as your Heavenly Father. He stands ready to help you. Communicate with Him through prayer. Express gratitude and ask for the things that you need.
Paul was aware there was necessary to fill an unsatisfied need! On all sides, the hunger of the world was evident and it still is TODAY! In reality, hunger is not just for food, but humans also crave physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual nourishment. It is true what Jesus said: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” (Luke 4:4) Blaise Pascal was a French mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer, and theologian. He was a child prodigy who was educated by his father, a tax collector in Rouen. He put it this way, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator made known through Jesus.” God is Spirit and He is the only One who can satisfy the spiritual hunger of humanity. For Paul, to save himself, he had to go forth and fulfill his obligation—-to make sure that we are at the table, being fed by the word of God!
