Ephesians 1:15-23

I am always challenging God to provide. I test Him to see how he enhances my life. To see the greatness of God, you need to have him present in your life. When we were young, we challenged our parents. In the trailer for the movie “Nomadland”, an academy award nominee, this is the main quote. What is remembered…lives!

Memories live in your mind, body, and soul! I ask you this questions? Why are you here? How did you get here? And why? Where does your church live in a world of religious apathy and indifference? Does it take a second place to all of the other activities in life? This week I saw a picture at a ballgame. the sign said “SHHH, I am remote learning.” The person was not at school so she could not be learning! You should be proud that you attended church today! Pat yourself on your back and say to yourself, “I did good today!” The most important reason for God’s people to attend church is that the church is God’s idea.

Matthew 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
The church is how God is accomplishing His work on earth today. How else would we know that prayers are needed for others? The church is God’s avenue for believers to use their spiritual gifts. another important reason for attending church regularly is that church is the place where believers can and should practice their God-given gifts.

Romans 12:3-8 For by the grace given me I say to everyone of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.  If your gift is prophesying, the prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

God’s people connect with other believers in the church.  We all have stories to share.  The community provided by a local church is essential for believers because the Christian life was never intended to be a solo act. That’s why there are close to 60 “one other’s” mentioned in the new testament.

Believers are to love one another, comfort one another, forgive one another, and pray for one another.

In today’s world, it’s not enough to think that the church’s ancient traditions, great orators, modern scholars, or just being a well organized group is sufficient to keep the church alive. The church must consistently proclaim that  its head is the risen Lord. That gives the church the power to serve the world. The church is morally and spiritually empowered to serve the less fortunate and impoverished. Most importantly, the church needs to spread the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. We all need to use our God given gifts to help spread His word and do His work.
