Sermon: God Revives the Weary Soul
May 11, 2023

How much of our life’s dash is made up of our faith. How many people will mention our commitment to God?

For most that dash will not be long enough!

“Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?'” (Matthew 16:24-26).

Make no mistake, the path of righteousness is a hard and narrow road. But to the one who is willing to trust in God’s sovereignty, heart-transformation is both possible and probable to ensure we answer,

To be children of God, according to the new testament, does not mean that we are creatures of God only, but that we grow into a likeness of God by our own moral character!

Our scripture this morning: 62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

What are we saying? If your faith is not what you wanted it to be…don’t look back at what you plowed.

This is a scripture that will help you stay the course in your own faith-filled movement this year. Have that understandable determination that the force will be finished wherever it leads.

In 2023 I challenge each one of you to challenge yourself in the steps of faith…use your moral compass for more good than you have ever imagined.

Mother Theresa “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
